The British Association of Critical Care Nurses - BACCN - is one of the leading Organisations in critical care nursing. BACCN was established in 1985 and has grown and developed through the hard work and dedication of its members, regional committees and National Board.

The 15 BACCN regions span Great Britain and Northern Ireland providing one of the largest and influential professional Organisations within critical care.

BACCN Philosophy

The British Association of Critical Care Nurses is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the provision and delivery of critical care nursing through mutual support, education, research and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The BACCN is managed by a National Board elected by the membership to serve for a two-year period. Each board member holds a specific role and is able to stand for re-election after a two-year period of service. National Board Members come from various positions and roles within critical care and critical care education and from around the UK.

The National Board meets approximately 6 times per year, as well as at the National Conference. It is essential that the frequency of these meetings be maintained so that we can communicate with the membership, meet BACCN's aims and respond to healthcare and delegates' needs.

Observers are welcome at any of our national board meetings, subject to the availability of a suitably sized venue. Attendance would need to be financed from either the regional group or by the member themselves. Requests to attend should be made via your regional committee.

Administrative Support Team

The National Board are supported by the Administration Executive based in our offices in Newcastle. This has recognised the growth and expansion of the organisation as well as a commitment to provide excellent administration services to it's members, corporate partners and sponsors.
