23rd Annual Conference
The BACCN’s 23rd Annual Conference, ‘Caring, Competence & Collaboration’ took place 15th-17th September at York Racecourse. 310 delegates attended over the three days complemented by a 38-stand exhibition. The programme has received extremely high praise and the evening socials certainly went down a treat! The feedback from all who attended has been excellent with many commenting the event was the best BACCN conference yet.
The 2008 regional awards were presented during the black tie gala dinner at the National Railway Museum. Congratulations go to this year’s winners:
- Most Outstanding BACCN Member 2008 – Karin Gerber (Central South)
- Most Outstanding Region 2008 – Southern
- Most Outstanding Education and Development Programme 2008 – Yorks and Lincs
- Motivation and Innovation Award 2008 – North West
The standard of this year’s abstract submissions and presentations was excellent. The winner of the 2008 free paper presentation was Helen Doyle and the winner of the 2008 poster presentation was Matt Bilney. Other prize winners from the event include new BACCN member Alison Kelly, who won the Thornton’s chocolate hamper in the prize draw for new members. Sally Walters and Linda Warne were the two lucky winners of the exhibition sticker card draw, which could be entered by visiting all exhibition stands over the duration of the conference.

The third international BACCN Conference will be taking place at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on 14th-16th September 2009. More information will be posted on the conference website later this year.
