Excellence at EfCCNa
The European Federation of Critical Care Nursing Associations (EfCCNa) held its 2011 conference on 24th – 26th March in the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
The conferences whose theme was “critical care nursing in Europe: working together, achieving more”, attracted over 700 delegates from across Europe, including those attending from further afield, such as the USA & Singapore.
Excitingly several BACCN members attended the conference, with some of them presenting an oral session or poster. Some of the BACCN contributions included:
Karin Gerber, who is an outreach sister from Reading & the Chair of the BACCN Central South region, presented an informative session on ‘C4C’, a patient/relative activated outreach initiative.- Steven Pearce, a critical care lecturer from Bucks New University & colleague from Cardiff University presenting how they have implemented ‘problem based learning’ into their respective critical care nursing courses.
- Suzanne Bench, a critical care lecturer from Kings College London & active member of the BACCN Southern region committee, along with a further colleague from Kings
shared their experiences of implementing a new e-learning assessment method into their critical care nursing course. - Mo Coombs, a nurse consultant from Southampton & a long standing BACCN member (and former Chair) gave a challenging opening keynote session on ‘end of life’ care.
The conference offered delegates a valuable opportunity to share good practice, to network & make friendships with critical care colleagues from across the globe.
A date for your diary is the next EfCCNa conference which is scheduled for 23rd – 25th May 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia. Perhaps consider submitting an abstract or simply attending... come hear about critical care nursing across Europe, how we can work together and achieve more!
