2009 Regional Awards

The British Association of Critical Care Nurses is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the provision and delivery of critical care nursing through mutual support, education, research and multidisciplinary collaboration. BACCN aims to provide opportunities and services for members which support personal and professional development, and promote the art and science of critical care nursing. The BACCN Awards recognise individuals and regions that through their actions have shown the most outstanding contribution towards this mission.
There are two awards presented annually to the Region of the Year and the Regional Committee Member of the year.  Both awards were presented at this year’s conference gala dinner in Belfast.

REGION OF THE YEAR 2009
YORKS AND LINCS

Yorks and Lincs were able to demonstrate that critical care without walls was alive, well received and actively promoted within their region even extending to midwives!!  This region covers a large geographical area but they have regarded this as a challenge not a problem. They are a proactive and innovative region promoting the value of teamwork and membership of BACCN. Congratulations on this award.

REGIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER OF THE YEAR 2009
LESLEY ANDERSON (NOTHERN REGION)

Lesley’s regional committee nominated her as she is an enthusiastic and committed member of their regional comittee. They feel she is a role model for BACCN and always makes a positive contribution at meetings and study events. She works very hard promoting BACCN in the region even going to the lengths of hand delivering promotional information and visiting other units.
Her networking skills have been invaluable at attracting quality speakers and company sponsorship for study events in the region.
She is a shining example of a critical care nurse and a member of BACCN. Congratulations on this award.

Unfortunately Lesley was unable to attend this year’s conference so Vanessa Gibson of the Northern region kindly accepted the award on Lesley’s behalf.
