SHA Roadshows

Chris Rudge F.R.C.S., National Clinical Director for Transplantation, writes

"You are probably aware that we have been organising a series of roadshows to support acute trusts as they implement their part of the recommendations from the Organ Donation Taskforce. We have been setting up one roadshow in each of the English SHA regions, and inviting clinical staff and management from the acute trusts as well as having some representation from PCTs. We have already conducted two of these roadshows, and they have been extremely well received, and have led to real commitment to change.

These events last a full day and cover the findings of the Taskforce, our recommendations, what is required from trusts, and what practical support is in place to help. The days have been structured to ensure ample opportunities for delegates to have discussions with their colleagues, question speakers and plan concrete actions leading to maximum engagement. The speakers typically include myself, Paul Murphy, Sally Johnson from NHSBT and are facilitated by Vivienne Parry. Each event has been planned in close partnership with the SHA and is typically opened and closed by the SHA chief executive or board member.

You would be very welcome to attend any of these roadshows, the dates and locations of which are below. If you are interested in attending, please let me know and I will arrange for the registration details to forwarded on to you. I would be delighted to see you there.

September 7 - Newcastle (Marriott Metro Centre) September 10 - Crawley (Arora Crawley) September 17 - Birmingham (NEC) October 1 - Linton, nr. Cambridge (Chilford Hall) October 26 - Newbury (Newbury racecourse) November 10 - Taunton (venue tbc)"
