BACCN Grants & Scholarships

A key objective of BACCN is to provide facilities for nurses to further their education, skills, and personal and professional development in caring for critically ill and dependant patients.
BACCN invites its members to apply for grants (up to £500) and scholarships (up to £2000) for attendance at conferences, practice development and research. The aim of the awards is to enhance skills, knowledge and competence in critical care nursing to improve patient care and outcomes.

BACCN Grants & Scholarships are for everyone - you could apply for funding for anything from attending a local study day to keep your knowledge updated, to a long term research project*. You can either apply for £500 or £2000 - its entirely up to your circumstances and aspirations.
* Please note unfortunately at this time we are unable to provide funding for MSC/PHD and Post graduate training.

There are 3 submission deadlines of:

Successful applicants of grants (up to £500) will be expected to submit a 500 word article to Nursing in Critical Care News section. Scholarship applicants (up to £2000) will be expected to submit a full article to Nursing in Critical Care for peer review, or an abstract for oral presentation at the National BACCN conference (conference registration, accommodation and travel expenses to be met by the applicant)

Essay Competition

BACCN are delighted to invite post-registration student members to submit an assignment, to win £200!

Our journal Nursing in Critical Care, has a strong track record in publishing a wide range of topical issues that reflect the broad spectrum of critical care nursing concerns - in fact Nursing in Critical Care, has enabled many new authors to publish for the first time, and the BACCN is keen to continue this by providing opportunities for nurses to develop their academic assignments and get these into print.

This is an annual competition with a closing date of 1st August each year.

Submitted assignments should be completed within the last academic year, and will need a signed testimonial from your course tutor. We are keen to here from post-registration students who are interested in starting to develop their publication profile - and of course the possibility of winning £200!
